Temperature-driven nonclassical light.

چکیده
With reference to two well known scenarios, we discuss, for nonclassical light, the competition between quantum and thermal effects. It is seen that for nonclassical light to be produced some amount of temperature-induced disorder is needed plus quantum fluctuations of order ħ squared.

Generation of nonclassical states of light via photon blockade in optical nanocavities
The generation of nonclassical states of light via photon blockade with time-modulated input is analyzed. We show that improved single-photon statistics can be obtained by adequately choosing the parameters of the driving laser pulses. An alternative method, where the system is driven via a continuous-wave laser and the frequency of the dipole is controlled (e.g., electrically) at very fast tim...
متن کاملNonclassical Intensity Correlations in Cavity QED
We report nonclassical correlations in the light transmitted by a collection of two-level atoms strongly coupled to a single mode of the electromagnetic field of a driven optical cavity. This cavity QED system can produce bunched light that violates the Schwarz inequality due to the state preparation of the system from the detection of a photon. The correlation function shows oscillations at a ...
متن کاملSisyphus Thermalization of Photons in a Cavity-Coupled Double Quantum Dot.
We investigate the nonclassical states of light that emerge in a microwave resonator coupled to a periodically driven electron in a nanowire double quantum dot (DQD). Under certain drive configurations, we find that the resonator approaches a thermal state at the temperature of the surrounding substrate with a chemical potential given by a harmonic of the drive frequency. Away from these therma...
متن کاملNonclassical light from a large number of independent single-photon emitters
Nonclassical quantum effects gradually reach domains of physics of large systems previously considered as purely classical. We derive a hierarchy of operational criteria suitable for a reliable detection of nonclassicality of light from an arbitrarily large ensemble of independent single-photon emitters. We show, that such large ensemble can always emit nonclassical light without any phase refe...
متن کاملNonclassical correlations between terahertz-bandwidth photons mediated by rotational quanta in hydrogen molecules.
Quantum photonics offers much promise for the development of new technologies. The ability to control the interaction of light and matter at the level of single quantum excitations is a prerequisite for the construction of potentially powerful devices. Here we use the rotational levels of a room temperature ensemble of hydrogen molecules to couple two distinct optical modes at the single photon...
